William L. Winston, Jr., MPA
About Me:
William L. Winston, Jr., CFRE, has 25 years of experience in the nonprofit community. He has worked with several organizations in the planning and implementation of fundraising programs and in the areas of volunteer management, event management, and executive and program director searches (including school principal searches). In 2005, Mr. Winston earned the Certified Fund Raising Executive credential (CFRE). Mr. Winston’s work has been primarily in the religious sector of the nonprofit community. He has worked with both Catholic and Episcopal parishes and organizations.
Mr. Winston`s experiences include community-based organizations and social service agencies. He has developed and directed annual fund drives, offertory programs, capital campaigns, and special events. He has assisted several parishes with information retrieval and database management, information analysis, donor relationship and cultivation, annual reports, and donor acknowledgement and stewardship. He has worked with parishes and medium sized agencies to train staff and volunteers for development roles and tasks and developed a collaborative model that allows these groups to continue their fundraising and development tasks.
Mr. Winston earned a Master of Public Administration Degree from Seton Hall University in South Orange. As an honor student, he was admitted to the honorary public administration fraternity, Pi Alpha Alpha. As a graduate student, he assisted the University’s Center for Public Service with several projects in service to the nonprofit community in northern New Jersey. Mr. Winston’s undergraduate degree is from the University of Richmond, in Richmond, Virginia. His major was political science and public administration.
Following undergraduate studies, Mr. Winston was admitted to Virginia Theological Seminary, the second oldest seminary in the Episcopal Church in the United States. He received a Master of Divinity Degree from that institution. Mr. Winston has received his basic training in conflict resolution at the Lancaster Mediation Center in Lancaster, PA. Subsequently, he completed advanced supervised training with Sam Marguiles, Esq. at Seton Hall University Law School’s Center for Dispute Resolution in Montclair, NJ.
